The Empire Center for New York State Policy is looking for talented students for our internship program, located in Albany, NY.

Empire Center internships provide students interested in public policy with a unique work experience at a leading state-based think tank.  A project of the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, the Empire Center is dedicated to fostering greater economic growth, opportunity and individual responsibility in the Empire State.  Through research papers, policy briefings, commentaries and conferences, the think tank seeks to educate and inform New York State policymakers, news media and the general public.  In addition to commissioning special policy research projects, the Empire Center highlights the expertise of Manhattan Institute scholars in such fields as education, health care, tax policy, and civil justice reform.

Responsibilities include editing, data analysis, administrative tasks, and some research.  Interns are matched according to the Empire Center's needs, the applicant’s past experience and their interests.

Students wishing to apply should send:

- a 500 to 700 word autobiography, including the student's education, work, other activities and future goals as they relate to an internship at the Empire Center;

- a current resume;

- a recommendation from a former employer or teacher; and

- a writing sample.

Fall and Spring internships are part-time for a minimum of 15 hours a week.  Summer internships are full-time for 10-12 weeks and adjustable to the student's schedule.

Deadline to receive application materials:

- Spring 2013 intern positions are currently filled.

- Summer 2013 Internship: April 1, 2013

- Fall 2013 Internship: July 12, 2013

Interviews will be scheduled during the week immediatley following the application deadline and internship announcements will be made no less than 10 days after the application deadline has passed.
