New York legislators received $2.5M for travel

State lawmakers received more than $2.5 million in daily stipends and reimbursements for travel costs during this year’s legislative session, down slightly from last year, state records show.

Because the session finished on time, lawmakers spent about $400,000 less than they did last year on travel and per diems for days at the state Capitol.

Lawmakers outside the Albany area receive $165 a day for hotels and meals for each day they are in town. The federal government sets the rate. Legislators also receive reimbursement for mileage and tolls….
