Ann Hughes is director of development at the Empire Center for Public Policy. In this role, she is responsible for all development, philanthropy, and outreach activities.
Ann has spent much of her career as an award-winning journalist, asking tough questions and informing the public about a wide variety of news topics. She began as a radio reporter in Syracuse and Rochester. For nearly 15 years, Ann anchored Albany’s top-rated late local newscast, FOX23 News at 10, and often worked with local nonprofits as a volunteer and emcee of their events. Most recently, Ann led public relations for a large health insurance company.
Ann has made a difference in her community as founding president of an educational foundation and as the leader of a YMCA running program.
Originally from Wisconsin, Ann has lived in New York for 25 years. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast journalism and Spanish from Syracuse University.
