According to the Empire Center for Public Policy, the village of Brocton is No. 1.
The high ranking, however, is not flattering. It is for being the village with the highest average pay for its general employees in Western New York. Its average, for its 13 employees, is $45,118.
That amount was higher than any town in the north county region and more than the county average, which was $41,164. It is also higher than the city of Dunkirk’s $43,305.
Other villages rating high in salaries were Westfield, which rated fifth in the region, at $41,518 and Fredonia, which rated sixth in the region at $40,668.
Dunkirk did have the highest average pay for its police and fire employees at $76,246 for its 60-member force.
