Today New Yorkers can search the complete 2011 state government payroll on SeeThroughNY.net, the Empire Center’s government transparency website. The database includes names, titles, base pay rates, and total pay received by the 288,539 people who worked in the state’s executive, legislative, or judicial branches at any point in calendar year 2011.
The data show:
– The highest paid employee in state government was Alain E. Kaloyeros, the Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at SUNY Albany. His pay totaled over $792,000 in 2011. He has been a top-5 earner since 2009.
– 1,252 state employees earned more than the Governor’s $179,000 salary, 256 more than in 2010.
– At $102,677, the New York State Police had the highest average earnings among Executive branch agencies (excluding SUNY & CUNY).
