A list of 8,155 people paid by the Research Foundation for the State University of New York (SUNY) in fiscal year 2014 (ending June 30) has been posted at SeeThroughNY.net, the government transparency website of the Empire Center for Public Policy.
The Research Foundation is a non-profit corporation created to administer research programs and funding for SUNY faculty and students. The SeeThroughNY database–the most complete ever made public for the Research Foundation–details $261 million in payments to both foundation employees and to SUNY faculty and administrators who supplemented their salaries with third party payments or research grants funneled through the foundation.
Topping the list of payments was Alain Kaloyeros, chief executive officer of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute, who collected $523,886 from the foundation. According to data posted separately on SeeThroughNY, Kaloyeros was also paid $823,732 from the State University of New York (SUNY) during calendar year 2013. In addition, Paula Kaloyeros, who reportedly is the wife of Alain Kaloyeros, was paid $115,195 by the foundation during FY 2014.
While more than 230 individuals received payments of more than $100,000 from the Research Foundation, the median payment was just $28,000, reflecting students and faculties receiving relatively small research grants. A list of the foundation’s largest salary and personal service payments is available here.
