The Indian Point nuclear power plant on the Hudson River in Westchester County generated about one-fourth of the electricity used by the New York City and Westchester markets last year. Governor Cuomo is pressing to close the plant — but has not produced a plan for replacing the electricity it generates.
In an ironic twist, while he seeks to deny a new license to Indian Point, the governor also is trying to keep open the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in Oswego. That plant is owned by Entergy, Corp.—the same company that owns Indian Point.
